Heart of a Dragon: L.J. Garland - 4****Stars

Lyra sits on the balcony in her home watching the city dragons fly. Lyra has a disease that is attacking her vital organs and there is nothing that can be done for her. She now sits in a wheelchair and watching her beloved dragons is what gives her the greatest pleasure. It is her brother Ralion that looks after since the death of their mother but everything in her life changes when aliens attack the city and kill the dragons that have been guarding it forever. The weapons in the city are no match for the creatures attacking them and for the men dressed in armor.

Ralion manages to hide her in the pantry behind some sacks of grain and then runs out to distract them. He is caught but his attempt at distraction doesn't work when one of the soldiers enters the pantry with his gun raised and looks Lyra right in the eye. Something amazing happens because the soldier feels a bond with Lyra and senses that she is dying. He leaves her behind to die at her own pace.

From the moment Rusch saw Lyra he couldn't get her out of his mind. His feelings for her were something he never experienced before but he was part of the Legion and had a job to do. Rusch was just one of hundreds taken from their planet and brought into the Legion. Lyra knows that she will die soon but wants to save her brother. She had been working on a secret project for a year and now it was time to finish it. She was building a dragon and if she could finish it before she died maybe, just maybe she could do some good against the aliens.

This is just a small taste of what happens in this book but I don't want to reveal too much. Needless to say alot happens, some good and some bad.

I was really impressed with this collection of dragon tales! 13 stories that brings dragons to life in different ways! Many entertaining hours of reading stories that pull you in! I was happy to get my first taste of a bunch of new to me authors! Truly delighted with tale after tale! Great storylines and characters! Some of my faves were Heart Of A Dragon by LJ Garland, Dragon Slayer, Dragon Heart by Isobelle Cate, On Wings Of Time by Linda Boulanger, Devon by Kathi S. Barton, and Curse of The Dragon's Eye by Kali Willows. Loved loved loved all of the dragons!!!

This one is really different.

Rusch is one of the invaders. He us sad with what he has had to do, but it us necessary. Why can't he follow the rules when faced with a sick young woman.
The invaders are shifters, but not like any you by have read about before. Our heroine defies all the laws of nature.

“Bring the file here and place it on my desk.” He settled more comfortably into his chair, steepled his fingers beneath his chin, and admired the sway of her lush hips. She placed the file down as instructed then folded her hands in front of her, eyes still averted. Schooling his need with an iron control, Daniel waited.

Her chest rose and fell, the slight hitch in her breath pressing her breasts against the thin silk of her blouse. The tip of her tongue peeked out, dampening her coral-pink lips, and a bolt of lust drove him from the chair. Ignoring Lou, he strode to the door and locked it. He doubted there were many people left in the building at that time of day on a Friday, but he wouldn’t risk anyone interrupting them.

Pacing back to the center of the room, he stopped to admire the hourglass lines of her figure. The heels looked even better from the back. Balancing on their slender points gave extra definition to her calf muscles.

“Do you know why I summoned you, Ms. Jones?”

Her breath seemed to catch in her throat. Her voice barely above a whisper, she said, “No, Mr. Smith.”

“You will call me Daniel.” The visceral need for her to know who was about to touch her surprised him. He wanted to hear his name on her lips as she sighed, moaned, and fell apart at his command. Her head bobbed in acquiescence, and he spoke again. “I summoned you because you canceled our appointment this evening.”

She half-turned, seemed to catch herself, and straightened to face the front again. A thrill of satisfaction curled in his gut. Each little act of submission from her proved sexy as hell. “Did you do as I requested?” he asked. Her skirt clung to her hips and ass with no hint of a panty line, but he couldn’t be sure.

“Yes,” she murmured.

A bolt of lust rocked him on his heels. He wanted to crawl on his hands and knees and fawn at her feet, but she had been very specific in her email—her fantasy required him to be the boss, to take control and dictate his desires upon her.

“Show me.” The rasp in his voice couldn’t be helped; his body tingled with anticipation. Her hands gripped the hem of her skirt and began to raise it, inch by tantalizing inch. He turned toward her. “Come in with me.”

Just being near him caused her body to react—her nipples tightened in anticipation of his touch, and her damp panties had rubbed in the most delicious way with each step they’d taken.

....Keys appeared in his hand as if by magic, and he unlocked the door. He pushed it open, allowing her to enter first.

....She paused just inside where the foyer opened onto the dining area and kitchen. Beyond that lay a nice-sized living room with a vaulted ceiling. And the hallway at the back probably led to a couple of bedrooms and bathrooms.

....He strode past her to the kitchen, tucking their food into the refrigerator, then returned to stand in front of her. He moved closer, his broad chest inches from her breasts. His dark-brown stare sent her heart galloping.

....“Brigit.” His deep jagged voice spoke of desire and lust and intent. Matching the way he looked at her. The way his body leaned toward hers. The way everything about him concentrated on her.

....She shivered. Caught in his intense gaze, she lifted her chin and licked her lips. His focus dipped, following her nervous action, then shifted to her eyes again. “Carter.”

....Reaching up, he tucked her hair behind her ear then grazed his knuckles along her jaw. “I’m going to kiss you.”
